Football
Football is the bigger stage beside boxing, and its markets give the vocabulary other sports borrow. This section collects the terms in one place.
Match odds lead, followed by predictions and tipsters, futsal, and the word soccer where other markets use it. A price is quoted as a fraction (11/4, evens), and exchanges and many apps show decimals instead.
Advertising has two rules of its own here. Whistle-to-whistle, an industry code and not law, bars betting adverts on TV for five minutes either side of a live sporting event, until 9pm. And the Premier League clubs have agreed to take gambling sponsors off matchday shirt fronts from 2026/27.
