Privacy policy – Boxing betting
An information site on boxing odds and betting needs very little personal data, and Boxing betting keeps to that. The UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply, and the sections below fulfil the duty to inform under Article 13 of the UK GDPR.
Controller
Article 4(7) UK GDPR names as controller the body that runs Boxing betting. Its name, address and e-mail address are available at boxingoddsuk.com, the channel for every question about personal data.
What happens to data
A server log entry arises whenever a page is requested: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the data volume, the referring page and the browser type. These logs support security and the detection of abuse, and after 90 days they are deleted or shortened so as to identify no one. Anyone who writes to the editors supplies a name, e-mail address and message text, used only for the reply. The site has no reader accounts and takes no deposits or bets, so payment details and identity documents are not collected.
Why it is lawful
Logs, abuse protection and the answering of messages depend on legitimate interests in a working and secure site (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). Non-essential cookies and audience measurement depend on consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR together with regulation 6 of PECR), start only after it is given and can be withdrawn at any moment without affecting earlier processing (Article 7(3)). No automated decisions and no profiling occur.
Recipients and transfers
Nothing is sold. Processors that follow the controller’s instructions supply hosting, content delivery and e-mail (Article 28 UK GDPR), and public authorities receive data when the law requires. A transfer outside the United Kingdom happens only to a country with adequacy regulations or with safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum (Article 44 onwards).
Rights
Everyone may ask for access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18) and portability (Article 20), and may object to processing resting on legitimate interests (Article 21). The reply comes without undue delay and in any event within one month; a further two months are possible under Article 12(3).
Retention
Logs: 90 days at most. Correspondence: until the matter is closed, and for as long as defence against possible claims needs. Sending data in a message is voluntary, but without it a reply is impossible.
Complaints
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is the supervisory authority, and a person who considers that processing breaches the law may complain to it (Article 77 UK GDPR).
